NEW DEAL: Water Polo Football Team Bolsters Roster with Three New Signings
The Water Polo football team has officially announced the addition of three new faces to their squad, signaling a strong intent to strengthen their depth ahead of the new season. The club confirmed on Friday that midfield dynamo Carlos Mendes, versatile defender Jamie Okoro, and forward prospect Leo Tanaka have all signed multi-year deals and are set to join training immediately.
Carlos Mendes, a 26-year-old central midfielder, arrives from Portuguese side Braga FC. Known for his tactical intelligence, crisp passing, and tireless work rate, Mendes is expected to bring leadership and composure to the heart of Water Polo’s midfield. Speaking to club media, Mendes expressed excitement about the move, saying, “This is a new chapter for me, and I’m ready to give everything to help the team succeed.”
Defensive reinforcements come in the form of Jamie Okoro, a 24-year-old full-back who can also slot into central defense when needed. Formerly with Nottingham Rivers, Okoro brings a blend of physicality and pace, making him a reliable option at the back. His ability to contribute both defensively and offensively fits well with manager Eli Grant’s high-pressing philosophy. “Jamie gives us flexibility and experience in key areas,” Grant said. “He’s a great fit for our system.”
Up front, the club has secured the services of 19-year-old striker Leo Tanaka, widely regarded as one of the most exciting young talents in Asian football. Coming off a breakout season in Japan’s J-League, where he netted 14 goals, Tanaka is expected to provide energy and clinical finishing in the final third. While still developing, the coaching staff sees huge potential in the teenager. “Leo is a special talent. We’re thrilled to have him on board,” noted Assistant Coach Renee Powell.
